The Woodward 9907-163 is part of the 505/505E series of digital control units developed by Woodward Inc., America's oldest and leading manufacturing company. These units are designed to operate steam turbines by controlling one or both split stage actuators to drive the inlet steam valves.
Designated as a legacy AC 505, DC 505 component, it is rated for Class 1 Div 2 locations. The 9907-163 model serves as a governor unit, capable of processing all turbine operational parameters. Equipped with an internal microprocessor module, it can control turbines, turbogenerators, or expander modules.
Featuring printed circuit boards, protected by the unit's frame, optional NEMA 4X graded protective frame provides additional protection. Although, it slightly reduces the acceptable ambient temperature range from 65°C to 55°C.
