The RED670 is designed for the protection, control, and monitoring of overhead lines and cables across all network types. It operates effectively from distribution to high voltage levels, catering to heavily loaded lines and multi-terminal setups, including one-, two-, and/or three-phase tripping requirements. Additionally, it provides protection for cable feeders to generator block transformers.
Differential Protection and Distance Protection
The phase-segregated current differential protection ensures sensitivity to high resistive faults and offers secure phase selection. With six stabilized current inputs per phase, it supports multi-breaker arrangements in three-terminal applications or up to five-terminal applications with single breaker setups. Communication between IEDs follows the IEEE C37.94 standard and can be duplicated for redundancy when necessary.
Auto-Reclose and Protection Functions
Auto-reclose functionalities, with priority circuits for multi-breaker setups, cooperate with synchronism check functions for high-speed or delayed reclosing. Various protection functions are available, including high set instantaneous phase and earth overcurrent, directional or unidirectional delayed phase and earth overcurrent, thermal overload, and under- and overvoltage functions, providing versatility to meet diverse application requirements.
Control and Interlocking
The IED offers full control and interlocking functionality, integrating with synchronism check functions for main or backup control. Disturbance recording and fault locator features enable independent post-fault analysis, including remote station currents. An out-of-step function separates power system sections near the electrical center during out-of-step occurrences.
IEC 61850-9-2LE Process Bus and Logic
The IED supports applications with IEC 61850-9-2LE process bus with up to six merging units (MU), with each MU offering eight analog channels. The graphical configuration tool facilitates advanced logic capabilities for specialized applications such as automatic opening of disconnectors and load transfer logics. A loop testing function enables comprehensive testing, including remote end IEDs.
Communication and Configurations
Communication via optical connections ensures immunity against disturbances. Four packages cater to different applications, with optional functions available for configuration. Analog inputs and binary input/output signals are pre-defined, with additional signals customizable as per specific application requirements. Binary I/O boards can be added as needed.
