The TK3-2 Calibration Instrument is designed to simulate shaft vibration and position for calibrating Bently Nevada monitors. It ensures the proper operating condition of monitor readouts and the proximity transducer system, thereby ensuring accuracy in monitor readings and transducer inputs.
A spindle micrometer is employed to check the transducer system and position monitor calibration. The TK3-2 includes a probe mounting adapter to securely hold the probe while the target is adjusted toward or away from the probe tip in calibrated increments. The output from the ProximitorÆ Sensor is then recorded using a voltmeter.
For calibrating vibration monitors, a motor-driven wobble plate is utilized. A swing-arm holder positioned over the wobble plate securely holds the proximity probe in place. The holder and probe are adjusted to achieve the desired mechanical vibration level, which is measured using a dial micrometer provided with the unit (no oscilloscope is required).
Subsequently, the vibration monitor's reading can be compared to the known mechanical vibration signal input. The mechanical vibration signal from the TK3-2 can range from 50 to 254 µm (2 to 10 mils) peak-to-peak.
