The Allen-Bradley 1747-L551 Processor Hardware is a high-performance controller integrated with a program memory size of 16 KB. Capable of controlling up to 4096 input and output points, this module supports online and offline programming, including runtime editing. It features channel-to-channel, remote I/O, and DeviceNet pass-thru capabilities, along with a built-in real-time clock and calendar. Equipped with an Ethernet port for network connection and an RS232 port for peer-to-peer communication, it supports DF1 full duplex, DF1 half-duplex master, and DF1 radio modem on the RS-232 channel. Additionally, the integrated Ethernet port supports a built-in 10/100 Base-T Ethernet channel for SNMP, BOOTP, extended messaging capabilities, and high-speed communication. Advanced math instructions, various additional instructions, and support for indirect addressing are included for programming convenience. The SLC 505 boasts a typical Program Scan Time per Keyword of 0.9 milliseconds and a typical I/O scan time of 0.225 milliseconds.
This processor is exclusively installed in Slot Zero (0) of the SLC 500 chassis and supports Remote I/O implementation using communication adapters and scanner modules. Supported communication protocols include Ethernet, Remote I/O (RIO), DH485, and Data Highway Plus (DH+). It's important to note the distinction between Remote I/O technology, which allows installation of I/O modules away from the processor, and RIO protocol, a proprietary protocol by Allen-Bradley.
